Meetings

                                        New Club Meeting Site

Beginning on Tuesday, April 3, 2007, CNHARC club meetings will be held in the new Woodside building of the Taylor Community off of Union Avenue in Laconia.  We are a non-profit organization and thus have the use of the community function room for free.  This is a large room that will nicely accommodate our needs.  We will have year-round use of the room.  Not only do we have use of the room, but when we need them, we will have free use of a large screen, laptop computer and a projector.  Since we were considering the purchase of a projector, this represents quite a savings to us.  There will be sufficient parking either in pods along the road in front of the building or directly in front of the main entrance.  Handicapped spaces are closest to the entrance.  There is additional parking behind the building, but access is only from the front entrance. The main entrance will be lighted, and when you enter, you will be in a lobby with a large fireplace.  Go directly across the lobby to the meeting room.

The facility is designed as apartments for the elderly and quiet and decorum should be adhered to when in the lobby.  Also, a condition is that our meetings be open to the public.  This should not be a problem, since they always have been open.

The entrance road is Ledges Drive and is directly across from Irwin Motors and Harris Furniture.  It is about a quarter mile north of the Laconia High School.  Here are some instructions:

Coming from the Tilton area, follow Route 3 pass the Belknap Mall and come to the four-way intersection in downtown Laconia.  Continue straight ahead through the intersection. If you should be coming on Route 106 from the Belmont area, you will take a right at the intersection.  Continue up the hill (this is Routes 3 & 107—Union Avenue.)

The next set of lights will be at the intersection with Church St. and Winter St.  There will be a large building on your left—the former Scott & Williams building.  The next set of lights will be the intersection with Route 11A which goes to Gilford.  Brook’s pharmacy will be on your left.  If you were traveling down 11A, you would take a right here.  A short distance more and you will see the Laconia High School on your right.  About a quarter mile more you will see the Big Apple store, then Irwin Motors and then Harris Furniture.  On the right will be the original Taylor home set back on a hill.  The entrance is across from Harris Furniture.  Follow the road as far as you can and you will arrive at the Woodside building.  It is large and you cannot miss it.  If the front spaces are taken, park in a pod along the road.  Pleases observe the speed limit within the community.  It is 19 miles per hour.  Do not exceed this.

If you are coming from the Alton area on Route 11A or from the Meredith or Weirs area on Route 11B, you know how to get to the Gilford High School.  Do not take a left to the school but continue on 11A to the junction with Union Avenue where you will see the Brook’s pharmacy.  There you will take a right.

If you are coming from the Meredith area along either Meredith Center Road or Parade Road, you will come to the four-way intersection with Elm St.  From Meredith Center Road, go across the intersection to Elm St., and if from Parade Road, take a left at the lights. Follow Elm St. all the way to the traffic lights at Lakeport Square.  Take a right onto Union Avenue and pass Cantin Chevrolet to a set of lights with an Irving station on the left.  Bear left at the lights and the entrance is a short distance ahead on the left side.
